One of the leading processors and distributors of palm kernel and soybean oil in Nigeria, Slabmark Nigeria Ltd, has donated 50 cartons of edible vegetable oil to the Ondo State Government, as part of its contributions to the distribution of palliatives to the people of the state to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Similarly, the Araromi Ayesan Oil Palm Plc donated 200 cartons of palm oil as its own share of support for the state government and the people in the communities.

The donations were received by the governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, at the Gvernment House, Alagbaka, Akure.

The Director of Slabmark Nigeria Ltd, Mrs. Olubunmi Rachael Kuku, who led a team to deliver the items, said the donation was in line with the vision, mission and corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the company.

She said the indigenous company has enjoyed great support from the good people of Ondo state, adding that the people need all the helps they can get at this critical period.

While calling for robust response from well-meaning individuals to support the government in its efforts to make the state safe from the pandemic, Mrs. Kuku urged the people to always follow the laid down precautionary measures.

According to her, the 50 cartons of edible vegetable oil are meant to further enrich the efforts of the government at providing palliatives for the people across the state.

She said:”In view of the ongoing pandemic which has plagued the world and nation at large, we feel this is one of the best time to give back to the people of Ondo state to assist in relieving the economic strain and pain the pandemic has posed on all the good people of the state.”

She commended the government for the steps taken so far to ensure that the people are kept safe and the speedy recovery of the confirmed cases, adding that the people must join hands with the government to stop the pandemic by washing their hands, use nose mask and practice social and physical distancing.

Similarly, the Chairman of the board of Araromi Ayesan Oil Palm Plc, Prince Adetola Adedeji said the company donated the items to support the government in cushioning the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic among the people.

Responding, Governor Akeredolu thanked the companies for the kind gesture, promising that the items will be added to the palliatives that would be distributed to the people of the state.
