LASTMA has authority to enforce lockdown directives

– General Manager

The General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Olajide Oduyoye has stated that it has come to the agency's attention that it’s officers are enforcing the relaxed lock down directives as announced by the State Government which includes the compulsory use of face mask in public places, frequent washing of hands, use of hand sanitizer, physical/social distancing, reduction in passenger carrying capacity in public transport vehicles among others.
The General Manager emphasised that LASTMA being one of the enforcement agencies of the State Government has authority to ensure adherence to the rules guiding the partial lifting of the earlier full lock down. The public is therefore enjoined to adhere to these rules and not run foul of the law.

Oduyoye noted that it is only a healthy person that can conveniently get involved in economic activities, stating further that government rolled out these conditions of partial lifting for the wellbeing of the people.

He therefore advised the public to strictly adhere to conditions attached to appearing in public places and that anyone who disobey and is apprehended by enforcement officers should only have themselves to blame and should be prepared for the consequences of such disobedience.
